Maintaining Optimal Engine Cooling & Radiator Function

One of our missions here at Ed Reilly Subaru is to help you take the best care of your ride you possibly can. Proper engine cooling and radiator function are two of many factors that ensure lasting automobile health and longevity.

Engine Cooling System 101

Your engine cooling system consists of five major components: a water pump, thermostat, radiator, radiator cap and radiator hoses. The cap is an opening into which you pour engine coolant, and the water pump circulates coolant throughout the engine. The thermostat maintains optimal engine temperature as the radiator hoses convey coolant from the radiator to the engine.

As coolant passes through an array of tubes called the core, it releases heat to surrounding fins. All these parts work together to prevent engine overheating during both winter and summer in Concord.

Engine Cooling & Radiator Care

When is it best to flush your radiator or perform general maintenance? You can find recommendations for your specific model in your owner's manual. Adhering to the manufacturer's recommendations and preferred maintenance schedule can keep your engine cooling system and radiator working exquisitely. When it's time for maintenance, stop by to see us. Our seasoned team and combined experience can guarantee that your ride continues to perform at its absolute best.
