Ed Reilly Subaru is the premier
Subaru dealership in New Hampshire for importing Subarus into Canada. We can save you thousands of
dollars by buying a new,
used,
or certified pre-owned
Subaru here in Concord, New
Hampshire opposed to in Canada. In the past year we have sold vehicles to
customers living in Ottawa, Montreal, and Toronto.
Subarus are a lot more expensive in Canada
than in the US and you can take advantage of the weak U.S. dollar and strong
Canadian dollar by buying at Ed Reilly Subaru. Our customers typically save
20-40% by buying here than in Canada! Take advantage of this great
opportunity before the currency valuations change!
We have made this process quick, easy, and
convenient for Canadians by personally handling all of your paperwork. If you
are interested in a new or used Subaru please email us here or call us at 603-225-0200 and ask for Jon Beaudette our Canadian export specialist.

15 Frequently Asked
Questions:
What Subaru vehicles meet import
guidelines?
All 2010 and 2011 Subarus
meet the EIS immobilizer requirement. No additional maintenance modifications
are required.
What paperwork is required to
cross back into Canada?
Jon Beaudette will handle all of your paperwork here
and send it to the border crossing of your choice. We will prepare and provide
you with all the necessary paperwork you need to complete the transaction at the
border. If you really want to know a list of all the paperwork you need to cross
the border please call Jon Beaudette here at 603-225-0200.
How does the warranty
work?
This is the most
important concern many of our Canadian customers have expressed to us. Subaru of
America has reciprocity with Canadian Subaru dealers for all warranty work. Some
Canadian dealers may take assignment of your warranty claim for you. If not, the
car must either be returned to the U.S. for warranty repairs, or the owner can
have the car repaired by a Subaru dealer in Canada, pay for it in full, and
submit the bill to Subaru of America for reimbursement (in U.S dollars). The
warranty coverage from Subaru of America is also more comprehensive then the
warranty coverage from Subaru of Canada.
What fees do I have to pay?
The only added fees
are:
- There will be a $100 air conditioning fee which
Canada charges on all imported vehicles with air conditioners.
- A 5% GST and Provincial PST tax that you are
required to pay when registering a vehicle purchased in Canada is paid on your
imported vehicle but you only will be paying based on the price you paid for the
car at Ed Reilly Subaru which is a significant savings to you.
-There are no duty fees under the North American Free
Trade Agreement on the Legacy, Outback, and Tribeca because they are built in
Lafayette, Indiana. A duty fee of 6.1% is required on Impreza and Forester
models because they are built outside of North America (both are built in
Japan). However, the added savings from buying at Ed Reilly Subaru will
significantly outweigh the added duty fee on these models.
Are there any hidden fees?
No, the price you receive from Jon Beaudette will be
your final out the door price. There is also no sales tax in the state of New
Hampshire and Ed Reilly Subaru will provide you with a FREE 20 day temporary
license plate to give you time to return home. We will also give you a full tank
of gas at delivery!
Can you provide
financing?
We are not able to provide
financing for Canadian customers importing vehicles back into Canada. Many of
our Canadian customers pay in cash or setup financing on their own through
Canadian financial institutions. We provide your financing institution with the
VIN number and any other important information they may need. At signing the
vehicle needs to be due in full by a certified bank draft (in U.S. dollars) or
by wire transfer.
Am I eligible for U.S. factory rebates and
incentives?
As of January 3, 2008
Subaru of America does not permit Canadian customers to qualify for U.S. rebates
and incentives. I wouldn't really worry about this since you can already save
thousands by purchasing at Ed Reilly Subaru.
Can I trade in my
vehicle?
No, we can not accept
international trades because of issues with vehicle titles. We suggest all of
our Canadian customers to sell their vehicles locally in Canada so they can
receive even more money for their vehicle than they would receive in trade.
How
many times do I have to come down in order to get my Subaru?
You only have to come down once to pick your vehicle
up at delivery. We can handle everything else over email and over the phone.
What if I cant find the vehicle I want in your new
inventory?
If we dont have what you are
looking for in stock we can always locate or order the vehicle for you. There
are some differences in trim levels between Subaru of America and Subaru of
Canada vehicles but we can explain the differences to you and find you the
vehicle that matches your needs.
If
I order a vehicle, when will it arrive?
All orders typically take 8-12 weeks to arrive
depending on where the vehicle is built (U.S. or Japan), when the vehicle is
arriving in our next allocation, and the equipment package being built on the
vehicle. Once the vehicle hits the distribution point we will call and email you
to let you know that your vehicle is arriving in a few days. When the vehicle
arrives at our dealership you will receive an immediate phone call and email to
inform you that the vehicle is now here.
What are my up front
costs?
We require all our
customers in the US and Canada to provide a refundable $500 deposit so we can
secure the vehicle of your choice for you! We can receive this deposit through a
credit card or wire transfer.
Do Canadian customers qualify for
Subaru Free Roadside Assistance?
Yes, any
Canadian customer that purchases a Subaru in the U.S. qualifies for Subaru free
roadside assistance.
Do
I need a passport to cross the
border?
As of June 1st, 2009
all citizens of the United States and Canada must have a passport to establish
their identity before crossing this international border.
Which border crossing
should I use?
Here is a listing of
available border crossing points: Canadian/US border crossing
points.
All paperwork must
arrive three days before you arrive at the border crossing of your choice and be
logged three business days in advance before you cross. We can take care of all
the paperwork for you we just need to know which border crossing you will be
using to return to Canada.
If you need anymore information you can always visit
the Canadian Registrar of Imported
Vehicles website or call

Testimonials
from some of our customers:
"It was a great
experience buying my Subaru Forester 2011 model from Ed Reilly Subaru in
Concord, New Hampshire! The price they offered me was exactly what I was looking
for, and I did not need to negotiate at all. Jon Beaudette was very
knowledgeable throughout the entire process. Transferring the car to Canada
involved some extra formalities, but Jon handled everything correctly and in a
professional manner; all the documents that he sent to the border crossing
arrived in a timely manner and were filled out properly. After this, crossing
the border was a breeze! In summary, I would recommend Ed Reilly Subaru as the
dealer of choice to all Canadian shopping for a car in the US."
